We have 5 party times available:

• PARTY ROOM 2 – 9.30 – 11am
• PARTY ROOM 1 – 11.30am – 1pm
• PARTY ROOM 2 – 1.30 – 3pm
• PARTY ROOM 1 – 3.30 – 5.00pm

• Book your party online, your child and guests must be 8 years old or under.
• We will contact you early in the week before party to iron out any number, extras, or food changes or additions.
• On the day, two people can come in 10 minutes early to set up your party. Decorations can be added, but not the kind that requires sticking to anything.
• Guests arrive at the session start time and book into reception where they will be shown to the party room.
• Food is served immediately after everyone is in and settled. You should serve your cake during this time as well.
• A tab can be kept at the cafe should you wish to provide the adults and guests with other food and drink during the session. Guests are more than welcome to use the cafe themselves.
• After food and the cake ceremony, everyone can go to the main hall to jump around.
• We ask that everything brought to the party be taken home afterwards. This includes all decorations and present wrapping and packaging. Bin bags can be supplied, just ask.

• Our two party rooms are allocated when you book.

Your allocated party room is yours for the first hour of your party. After that you move to the main room to your reserved tables.

• For Standard Parties, there is a maximum of 25 party guests, including the lucky birthday (or celebration) child.
• By making the booking, you’ll pay for the first 12 children party guests.
• This means that up to 25 party guests can be seated and fed.

• The minimum number of adults attending a party is 2 (although please try to bring more because Playtrain does not supervise children).
• For Standard Parties, we allow 5 adults free with the booking, and up to 20 further adults can attend and be paid for on the day.
• Your party numbers are locked in on the Friday (or two full days) before your party. Should people not turn up, we do not offer refunds, and you will still be charged for those adults or children who do not attend. This allows us to prepare the overall session numbers.
• If adults with siblings have not booked in beforehand, we cannot guarantee that there will be space to accommodate them.
• If a child sits at the party table as a party guest, then they would be included at the party guest cost.
• If they are siblings of party guests, then we ask that the parents book themselves and the siblings into a normal play booking. They will not be charged on your bill as they will pay when booking themselves in. Please be sure to give extra notice to parents with siblings, as we are often fully booked a week in advance at weekends.

• When you book you pay for the minimum number of 12 party guests

• Yes, if the final agreed number of child party guests do not turn up on the day there are no refunds for this. However, only the total number of adults (minus your 5 free) attending will be charged for.

• We always contact you a couple of days before the party to discuss any changes or additions to people or food.

• We understand that people do get ill and there is nothing you can do about it.
• However, we cannot refund you if people do not turn up to your party.

• No, the capacity at the moment for a session is 64 on weekdays, and up to 50 at weekends. This doesn’t include the people that attend your party.. so there will be others in the main hall.
• If you wish to guarantee no other people, then you would need to book a ‘Private Hire’ party that gives you an hour of the hall to yourselves.

• Yes, you can bring your own paper plates, but please make sure you have mentioned this in your pre-party phone call in the week leading up to your party.

The cold buffet typically contains (plates and cutlery provided):

• Sandwiches (typically cheese, soft cheese, ham, strawberry jam and marmite)
• Bread sticks and Pop-corn
• Fruit platter (typically includes watermelon, honey dew melon, with yoghurt dip)
• Fruit platter 2 (typically half a pineapple, filled with grapes)
• Veg platter (Typically carrot sticks, cucumber sticks with either cheese or humus)
  
  This may change without advance notice.

The food choice you make while booking is included in the price. We do not supply any other food, including the cake.

Yes, the food is always served at the start. Please also have your cake celebration during the first part of your party.

Be aware that staff may start clearing the party room during your play session, normally after an hour.

• I’m afraid you cannot bring your own food apart from the celebration cake.
• However, the cafe is open for orders, and you are free to add food to your order prior to your party.
• A tab can be kept at the cafe should you wish to provide the adults and guests with other food and drink during the session. Guests are more than welcome to use the cafe themselves.
• Any extra children, adults, or food ordered on the day can be paid for by card at reception before you leave.

• Yes, no problem. We don’t supply a cake.
• Plates and cutlery will be provided.
• For obvious reasons, please do not bring a knife as we will supply one.
• You may light candles in the party rooms only.

• The party room is decorated as a party room (see pics below)
• Each child gets a party hat
• We do not provide other decorations
• You can bring your own but there are provisos:
  1. No party poppers of any description
  2. No untethered balloons, no helium balloons
  3. Balloons must stay in the party room
  4. Decorations must not be stuck to the walls or any part of the room
  5. All decorations (and present wrappings / envelopes / cards etc) must be removed at the end of the party – we can supply a black bin bag which should be taken home with you.

• Yes, no problem!
  The party host is responsible for this being paid at the end of the session.

You can still have a ‘Floor Party’. This is done by making multiple standard bookings and, put simply, we push the tables together for you as long as we have been told prior to the session. You may bring a cake (we can supply a knife) but we ask that this is not eaten at Playtrain, but taken home in supplied napkins. Naked flames are not allowed on the main floor so no lit candles please.

No other provision will be made, and you will not have access to a party room. Please be aware, in the interests of our other customers and our staff, that one adult must take charge of the group and all party paraphernalia (cake, wrapping paper etc) must be removed and taken home. We can supply a black bag.

There’s no guarantee Playtrain will or won’t be busy, but the 9:30am session usually fills up quicker than most. And when it rains we are always busy!

Our website can now tell you how many spaces there are left for booking in a session.

Please be aware that if our booking system is displaying only one space left, this means the session is full (minimum booking is for two people).

During the week, there will be some spaces in the car park. Advise your guest to come and park no earlier than 10 minutes before the party start.
There is also a council pay and display on the road outside Playtrain.
At weekends, Cressex is mostly closed, so there is parking opposite Playtrain.

PLEASE NOTE:
Because our car park was constantly being used by non-Playtrainers, we have had to install a 3^rd party company to take care of this problem.
